At Rosalind Genetics, we believe everyone should have access to timely, expert genetic care – and that includes having a clear understanding of the costs involved.
We will always discuss any fees with you before testing or appointments go ahead. There is no obligation to proceed. Below is a guide to our consultation and testing fees.
Genetic Counselling Fees
Most people accessing our services will have their initial consultation with one of our genetic counsellors. These sessions are conducted via telehealth and are supervised by one of our medical specialists.
Initial consultation: $300
Follow-up consultation: $200
Please note: Genetic counselling appointments are not currently eligible for a Medicare rebate.
Genetic Testing Fees
The cost of genetic testing varies depending on the type of test and the laboratory used.
- Some tests performed in Australian laboratories may be eligible for Medicare rebates, particularly if you have a valid referral from a GP or specialist and meet clinical criteria.
- In other cases – particularly for more specialised testing or when shorter turnaround times are needed – we may recommend sending samples to a specialist international laboratory. These tests typically incur additional out-of-pocket costs.
We will always:
- Clearly explain the recommended test and any associated costs
- Confirm whether Medicare or other funding options may apply
- Provide a quote before any testing is performed
- Respect your decision if you choose not to proceed.
There is no obligation to undergo testing following your consultation.
Medical Appointment Fees
In some cases, a patient will be required to see a medical doctor for treatment. Rosalind Genetics offers two types of medical appointments: diagnostic and non-diagnostic.
The definitions of these are according to Medicare. We can discuss which type of appointment is most appropriate for your situation before booking.

Please note, each appointment with a doctor includes a prior comprehensive intake appointment with a genetic counsellor.
Referrals
A referral from a medical doctor (such as a GP or specialist) is required to access any of our services. This helps ensure your eligibility for testing, appropriate triaging, and access to Medicare rebates where applicable.
