Preconception & Prenatal Genetics
Planning or expecting?
Whether you’re planning your first pregnancy or growing your family, genetic testing can provide valuable insights into your reproductive risks. At Rosalind Genetics, we offer expert counselling and testing to assess your chances of passing on inherited conditions.
It’s important to note that most babies born with serious genetic conditions are born into families with no prior indication at all. That’s why genetic testing is recommended for everyone planning a pregnancy, no matter your background or whether you’ve had a healthy child before.
Our team is here to guide you through your options and help you make informed, confident decisions for your family’s future.
Who is this service for?

Those from communities with higher rates of specific conditions
Individuals or couples planning a pregnancy

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral for this service?
Yes. You’ll need a referral from a GP or specialist to access this genetic testing service.
Can I get testing without seeing a genetic counsellor?
In most cases, we recommend having a consultation with a genetic counsellor first. They’ll help you understand which tests are appropriate and how results may affect your choices. You can book one here.
Will testing harm my pregnancy?
Most standard genetic tests are non-invasive and completely safe to both mother and baby. If invasive testing is recommended, we’ll explain both the risks and benefits in full.
Will Medicare cover my testing?
It depends on your circumstances and the type of test. We’ll let you know upfront if any out-of-pocket costs apply.
Can I bring my partner?
Absolutely. We encourage both partners to be involved where possible.
