About Christina

Dr Christina Girgis is a highly regarded medical oncologist and cancer genetics specialist with extensive expertise in hereditary cancer risk assessment, genetic testing, and personalised cancer prevention strategies.

Christina is the Chief Cancer Officer and Genetic Oncologist at Rosalind Genetics, where she works collaboratively with individuals and families to identify inherited cancer risks and develop tailored screening, prevention, and risk-reduction plans.

She is a Staff Specialist in Cancer Genetics at the Familial Cancer Service at Westmead Hospital, one of Australia’s leading hereditary cancer centres, and serves as the Cancer Genetics Lead in the multidisciplinary Westmead High Risk Management Clinic. In this role, she provides expert care for individuals and families affected by hereditary cancer syndromes.

Christina completed her advanced training in Medical Oncology at Westmead Hospital and was awarded a prestigious NSW Cancer Institute Fellowship Training Grant in Cancer Genetics, which she completed in 2020. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and holds specialist recognition in Medical Oncology.

Her clinical and research interests focus on hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndromes, the management of individuals with inherited cancer predisposition, and strategies to improve cancer prevention and early detection. She has contributed to clinical research investigating risk-reducing interventions for people with BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene variants and is actively involved in oncology and hereditary cancer clinical trials.

Christina is committed to advancing cancer genetics education and improving access to genomic medicine. She is a Lecturer in Genomic Medicine at the University of Sydney, where she teaches in the Master of Genomic Medicine program, and provides ongoing education and mentorship to medical, genetics, and genetic counselling trainees.

She is also a member of the eviQ Cancer Genetics Reference Committee, contributing to the development of national guidelines for hereditary cancer predisposition syndromes.

Through her roles in clinical care, research, education, and guideline development, Christina is dedicated to empowering individuals and families with the knowledge and support they need to make informed decisions about their health.
